Set for large choir (SSAATBB) with an optional organ accompaniment, this is an attractive arrangement of the well-known Latin chant, which for centuries has been held in special honor by the Carmelites (Sr. Sokol_x0019_ s order). Modal harmonies and shifting meters to accommodate the chant rhythms give the piece a timeless feel, which builds in power and intensity from a simple unaccompanied statement of the chant at the outset, to a stirring forte conclusion sung by the full choir in seven parts.
