This version of the _x0018_ lamp-lighting hymn,_x0019_ scored for SATB and organ, is by turns quiet and majestic, peaceful and powerful, simple and intricate. White uses fleeting moments of dissonance and occasional forays into modal harmony to wonderful effect, adding drama to an otherwise tranquil hymn.
