Prayerful and reverent, this gentle setting of Jenkins_x0019_ s text is set for SATB choir and organ. The mostly stepwise melody is reminiscent of a folk song (including the final plagal cadence) and will be pleasing to the listener. Barton has nicely distributed the forces throughout the piece, sometimes presenting the tune with just the men (as at the beginning), just the women, or using the full SATB choir, both with and without the organ accompaniment.
