This haunting choral anthem_x0014_ with its text based on Psalms 102 and 142 and featuring topics of petition, prayer, and longing for God_x0014_ is ideal for the Lenten season. The expressive dissonances and their resolutions reflect the spiritual yearning expressed in the text, which, with its many internal repetitions, takes on an almost mantra-like quality. It is scored for SATB choir with organ accompaniment. A simple optional handbell part can also be played in between each verse to further evoke the contemplative atmosphere.
