Taking its lyrical inspiration from the Exsultet, Schutte_x0019_ s song for the Easter Vigil combines a metered refrain set for SAB choir with four verses that begin chanted by a single cantor and close metrically in two-part harmony; this textural variety enlivens the lengthy verses. The assembly will easily learn the refrain as it is very straightforward both melodically and rhythmically.
