This setting of Psalm 117 begins with a simple chant-like line in Latin. Organ and quiet trumpet (or C instrument) lead to the SATB entrance in English, which grows gradually to a climactic moment at _x001C_ Strong is his love for us,_x001D_ before a gradual diminuendo leads back to a repetition of the opening line in Latin, completing something of a compact arch form.
