Great God, Your Love Has Called Us

Conceived as an entrance hymn, but working well at the offertory or after Communion, this assembly piece for SATB choir and organ sets a powerful text by Brian Wren that links liturgical action with the act of transforming the world under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The stately tune, in 3/4 time, contains some elements of modern hymnody, such as modal progressions and mild dissonance in the accompaniment and choral writing.
