The text for this piece was originally broadcast before Christmas at an ecumenical service of healing in East London. Farrell chose the melody HUMILITY for its association with Christmas. Written by Sir John Goss (1800_x0013_ 1880), and published in 1871 to the words _x001C_ See amid the winter_x0019_ s snow,_x001D_ it is a familiar carol in the UK. This marriage of a new text with a familiar hymn tune will no doubt provide comfort and healing to the congregation, as well as the choir who sings it.
