By adding verses to the original spiritual, the arrangers have made the piece more explicitly about Christmas. Written for young choirs, the piece is set in simple two-part harmony and cleverly highlights the protagonists of the Nativity with a kind of _x001C_ musical count down_x001D_ that always ends with Jesus_x0014_ seen as the little baby born in Bethlehem_x0014_ reinforcing his role as the center of our faith.
