Alma Redemptoris Mater

Marian antiphon _x001C_ Alma Redemptoris Mater_x001D_ is traditionally sung after night prayer from the beginning of Advent through February 1. Robert Benson has beautifully arranged this ancient chant for SATB choir, piano and cello. In a lovely coupling of the old and the new, Benson begins and ends this piece with a solo cello, layering the voices and instrumentation throughout the piece.
